As happens each year, some of the "Big Brother" house guests started playing the game the moment they stepped into their dwelling for the next few months. Will playing tough land these players into the forgotten land of house guests, much like cynical saboteur Annie of Season 12 and buff, popular Braden of Season 11?
Only time will tell. However, right now, dedicated viewers are aware that Wednesday night will bring a big surprise to the newbies-and we mean newbies to the viewing world and newbies to the house guest world. All of them will see that "Expect the unexpected" is what "Big Brother" is truly all about. Whether a cast member takes his or her own turn for the worst (or better, in light of this season's theme), or CBS has a surprise planned, predictability is never a guarantee in the house.
Let's venture away from surprise for a bit, and consider what we do know. The veterans are playing tough, and they're ready to crush their newbie competitors. How long will it be though before they turn on each other? These are seasoned players. They'll soon discover that their biggest ally is also their biggest enemy. Each of those veterans is in his or her own head, playing the game with the tools, tricks, and skills of someone who has been there already. In turn, they know what their "friends" are thinking as well. Give it until around mid-season, and the veterans will most likely crumble, as have so many huge alliances in "Big Brother" history.
On the other side of the coin, any newbie who will trust a veteran at this point is a fool. At this point in the game, the veterans are looking for newbies to boost their own numbers and scores. Once they don't have a use for the freshmen, they will get tossed to the wayside. Of course, is the veteran crumble occurs at the same time as the newbie uprising, we might see some very interesting alliances formed.
Imagine a combination of Rachel & Brandon and Jeff & Jordan at the end of the game. Unless it's Rachel vs. Brandon or Jeff vs. Jordan, they will all run away from being up against each other. You have two evil geniuses, a blonde belle who can do no wrong, and her trusty and handsome sidekick. Who will team up with who? Who knows! But what we do know is that loyalty and trust are rarely part of the game.
As for the newbies, a lot of them seem kind of "blah" so far. Kalia almost seems as though she's using the show to promote herself in some respect, and Dominic is getting a little bit ahead of himself with his alliance. Porsche will not get far in this game, and I'm pretty positive she'll be sent packing this upcoming Wednesday. She is already playing both sides and coming off too strong, both as a physical game player and a strategist.
I have high hopes for Lawan. He seems like he has a "big" personality and would be able to use that to charm people and to create a decent strategy plan. If I'm right about him, I think he's being very wise right now by laying low, but not so low that he is just a blip on Big Brother's eye.
